Together
‘Together’ is a series of speculative images that articulate human-to-human intra-action and entanglement. Through visual evocations of these philosophies, Wolff contemplates the importance of care, compassion, and love to our future/s.
The gestures within these images further the artists research into performativity by examining the promises and transformations held within gestures. These images explore intersections between intention, morality, and vulnerability. They offer forth transformations of the individualist self into entangled collectiveness. This betwixt state of Wolff’s protagonists is fuelled by gestural promises of care, compassion, and love.
However, the tension of these works surrounds the sincerity of these promises. As a ‘performed’ work, we recognise the potential for artifice. This risk of insincerity is the artists salute to the uncertainty of being vulnerable in the presence of another. Wolff offers these images to remind viewers that allowing space for promises to be sincere, creates the opportunity for personal transcendence.
